FAQs
What does TEGOBA mean?
TEGOBA stands for The English Group of Buenos Aires.
What is The English Group of Buenos Aires?
It's a group that meets every week at a coffee shop to chat in English.
Why do you do it?
To improve our English, to meet old friends and make new ones, and to have a good time.
Who are the participants?
We are locals who attend on a regular basis, expats and visitors to Buenos Aires.
Who can attend the meetings?
Anyone with an advanced level of English who can carry on a fluent conversation.
How can I participate?
Send an email in English to [email protected] telling us a little bit about yourself.
What does it cost?
Our activities are free. However, we encourage all participants to buy something at the coffee shop, since that is their condition for letting us meet there.
Are there any rules?
Just common sense guidelines:
Where do you meet?
The venue is always the same -- a coffee place/food court in the Belgrano/Nuñez area. Ask Marta (in English) for directions at: [email protected]

Are there any rules?
Just common sense guidelines:
- You need to speak English to an advanced level (not just an upper-intermediate level)
- Be a good listener
- Have respect for other's opinions
- Do not monopolize the conversation. Everybody needs the opportunity to tell his or her own story
- Share your opinions, point of views, knowledge and culture. It is not allowed to come and listen without participating
- Speak only in English at our "official meetings" on Friday evenings (You could speak Spanish after meetings in later dinner)
- Mistakes in spoken English are allowed. Don't correct others unless they ask you to do so. (You can write down suggestions and share them later)
- The event is completely free, but please buy at least 1 drink to support the venue as it´s their condition to welcome us. Thank you!
